The United Kingdom has a new monarch. Polls in the country suggest, however, that King Charles III is not as popular as his predecessor and mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died on Thursday. And he doesn’t just have the UK to represent — Charles III is also the head of state for 14 other countries, former British colonies known as Commonwealth Realms. To understand how he’s perceived by his subjects, host Marco Werman spoke to Richard Drayton, professor of imperial and global history at King’s College London.
