Iraq had been hosting an international soccer tournament for the first time in four decades: the Gulf Cup soccer. It features eight nations around the Persian Gulf. The finals were on Thursday in the Iraqi port city of Basra. And the host country pulled it off. Iraq defeated Oman 3-2 to win the tournament for the first time since 1988.
