How French exit from Mali is impacting Sahel security

France said it was packing up and leaving Mali back in February. For nearly a decade, French troops fought extremist groups linked to ISIS and al-Qaeda in the West African country. Two months later, 5,000 French troops remain in Mali and other neighboring countries.
