He survived torture in a Syrian prison. Now, he’s going to school in the US.

Omar Alshogre was a teen when the Syrian security forces arrested him for participating in demonstrations. He was taken to prison where he endured months of torture. Eventually, he was released and he left the country for Turkey and then Europe. Last week, Alshogre found out he had been accepted to Georgetown University. The World’s Shirin Jaafari brings us his story.
