Hacker breaches Shanghai police database, claims trove of data on as many as 1 billion Chinese citizens

A hacker under the alias “ChinaDan” claims to have stolen the personal data of over 1 billion Chinese citizens from a Shanghai Police database. Now, the anonymous hacker is offering to sell the information for $200,000. If the numbers are confirmed, this would be the biggest known cyberbreach in China, and among the biggest in the world.
