Five years after attempted coup, Turkey’s crackdown on suspected plotters continues 

This week marks five years since a faction of the military attempted a coup on the Turkish government. More than 250 people died in the ensuing conflict, and the Turkish government instituted a state of emergency and prosecuted thousands of people in the following years. Durrie Bouscaren reports from Istanbul that some say that remembering the coup attempt helps the president consolidate power in Turkey.
