Debate in Greece over proposed Greek-language music quota

The World

A proposed law in Greece would require 45% of music on the radio and in public spaces to be in the Greek language. The bill has stirred up discussion over the future of the country’s music culture and freedom of expression. The World’s host Carolyn Beeler spoke to Louka Katseli, who directs EDEM, a cooperative protecting the intellectual property rights of artists’ music. Katseli, who is also a former minister for Labor and Social Security in Greece, said it could give Greek artists a boost.
