A year ago this month, US forces withdrew from Afghanistan after two decades of fighting. Within days, the Taliban took control of the country, forcing thousands of Afghans to flee their homes. In the days leading up to the takeover, The World’s Shirin Jaafari was in Afghanistan, reporting on what the situation looked like from the ground.
