It’s been 1 month since the Israel-Hamas war started. Children are caught in a nightmare.

One month ago on Tuesday, Hamas carried out a surprise attack in southern Israel. It took a few days for the extent of the death and destruction to become clear, but Oct. 7 ended up being the deadliest day in history for Jews since the Holocaust.Catherine Russell, executive editor of the United Nations Children’s Fund, spoke at a UN Security Council meeting on Oct. 31 about the impact of the war between Hamas and Israel on children. In Gaza, around 4,100 children have reportedly been killed by Israel, and Hamas reportedly holds about 20 Israeli children hostage. The World’s Shirin Jaafari reports on the toll of this latest round of hostilities on children.
