Olive trees as agents of change

In the Israeli occupied West Bank, olive trees are much more than a source of food. They are a symbol of nationality and connection to the land. Historically, the trees have been targets of destruction by Israeli settlers. The World’s Shirin Jaafari reports that a new initiative called “Treedom for Palestine” aims to increase the number of olive tree farms in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with the hope of turning a polarized land into a prosperous one.
