‘Centaurus’: What we know about the new omicron variant

A new subvariant of the omicron coronavirus variant is spreading rapidly in India and has already been identified in the US. While research into the new subvariant, BA.2.75, which some are calling “centaurus," is still underway, it could have as many as nine mutations making it more infectious, even for those with immunity.
