Turkish court sentences philanthropist to life

A Turkish court on Monday sentenced a longtime civil society leader to a lifetime in prison without the chance of parole. Osman Kavala, 65, was convicted of plotting to overthrow the Turkish government. Seven others tried alongside Kavala were sentenced to 18 years.
