Amid Sri Lanka’s debt crisis, China offers dubious assistance

As Sri Lanka is in a countdown this year toward repaying over $4 billion in debt that it can't afford to pay, China announced Monday that it might offer a lifeline of $2.5 billion in loans and buyer's credit. Host Marco Werman spoke with Deep Pal, a visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, to ask what kind of strings might be attached to this lifeline.
