The heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf after a standoff between Iranian gunboats and a British warship escorting an oil tanker are reminiscent of the so-called “Tanker Wars” of the 1980s, but the geopolitics of the current situation are different than 30 years ago. And, in Istanbul, Turkey, a Syrian family’s business is helping them ease the transition from refugee to resident while giving other Syrians the taste of familiar home cooking.
