The Tigris river flows through the once-powerful town of Hasankeyf, which it has sustained through wars and hardship for thousands of years. In the next millennium, those same clear waters will submerge the crumbling ruins and caves, all for the sake of a huge energy and irrigation scheme to regenerate Turkey’s southeast region.
