Crocker Snow, Jr.

Crocker Snow is director of the Edward R. Murrow Center for Public Diplomacy at The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University. He is also president of the Boston-based Money Matters Institute, a public-private think tank engaged in research and creative initiatives for financing sustainable development, and as such Chairman of the Board of the Global Horizon Fund, designed as a private equity “fund of local funds” for a range of developing countries.

Snow is a veteran journalist in the field of foreign affairs. During his career, he has worked for Newsweek Magazine and WGBH public radio as a foreign correspondent in West Germany and for the Boston Globe variously as chief foreign correspondent, national and foreign editor and assistant to the publisher. He was the founding editor and president from 1978-2001 of The WorldPaper, an international affairs publication that appeared in 27 countries and seven language editions, including Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Korean and Arabic. He is well published, was twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for reporting on East Asia and has taught graduate courses in international communications at Boston University and The Fletcher School.

A graduate of Harvard University and The Fletcher School, Snow served as a US Navy officer in Japan and Vietnam before starting in journalism. He is a board member of several not for profit organizations including the International Honors Program, Evian Group in Lausanne, Jefferson Awards for Public Service, United Nations Association of Greater Boston, Fundacion para Nuevo Periodismo in Cartagena and a member of the editorial board of the World Bank’s Development Gateway Foundation.
