Anna Bensted

Anna Bensted is a radio editor and feature reporter who has crisscrossed the Atlantic working for the BBC and NPR.

Anna Bensted worked for BBC radio in the UK, hosting a current affairs program and starting up an arts program in Edinburgh. She then produced documentaries for the BBC from across America and was so inspired by the experience that in the mid-90s she moved to the US. She set up the award-winning Inside Out documentary unit at WBUR in Boston. In 2010, Anna left for Italy, where she helped manage Villa I Tatti, the Harvard Center for Renaissance Studies. The Old Masters in Italian museums pull in the crowds. And those waiting in long lines to see them rattle off their names: Michelangelo, Botticelli, da Vinci, Raphael, Titian. But if you ask them to name women artists from the Renaissance, most have trouble even coming up with one name.
