Heavy rains caused flooding in many parts of Rio de Janeiro yesterday.
Normally weather stories don’t rise to the level of BrickYard but last night’s crazy, Noah’s Ark-style rainstorm is worth it for the tabloid coverage alone. Sure, Rio received more rain in three hours than it normally does in 40 days; sure, parts of the city were flooded; and, sadly, one man drowned. But my favorite Rio tabloid, O Dia (The Day), in their first paragraph also made sure we knew this:
The flooding caused a giant boulder to roll onto a highway, and the huge rock hit the car of an ex-cast member of the wildly popular reality show "Big Brother Brazil."
Weirdly, the story doesn’t mention whether not she was hurt.
