Hosni Mubarak, placed in detention earlier this week pending investigations into corruption, has been transferred to a military hospital in Egypt where he will remain under guard until he can be questioned, Egyptian state media reported.
Egypt's prosecutor general ordered the transfer from the Sharm el-Sheikh hospital where the former president had been admitted on Tuesday after complaining of heart trouble while being questioned by prosecutors. He reportedly suffered a heart attack.
On Wednesday, the prosecutor ordered Mubarak detained — along with his sons, Gamal and Alaa — for 15 days over allegations allegations of corruption, the squandering of public money and having ordered that protesters be killed.
The location of the military hospital was not disclosed, but the state MENA news agency reportedly said he would be moved to prison once his condition improved. Mubarak's son are already in custody in Cairo.
Prosecutors have launched an investigation into violence against protesters during an 18-day popular uprising that forced Mubarak to resign on Feb. 11 after 30 years in power.
