Sao Paul fire department has some 1,500 followers with 150 more joining each day. Officials in their press office man the twitter account in shifts, posting reports of fires and responding to questions about, for example, how to remove a bee hive from your home.
Warning: if your house is on fire, don’t tweet. Just call.
