Costa Rica finds remains of third US student (VIDEO)

Costa Rican rescuers found the remains Friday of a third U.S. student who was swept out to sea.

A group of American high school students from Patriot Preparatory Academy in Columbus, Ohio, were in Costa Rica on a religious trip when they faced a terrible tragedy that killed three of the students.

Three of the eight students went to the beach Wednesday on their day off, and a strong undertow pulled the students away from shore that afternoon, AP reports.

ABC World News reports that all eight kids were in the water when a rip tide grabbed five of them. A lifeguard was only able to rescue two of them.

A coast guard patrol found the body of Kai Lamar in waters off Bejuco beach on the Pacific coast on Friday. The bodies of the other two students, Caity Jones and James Smith, had already been found.

James Smith's brother Nick told a TV station in Columbus that James had worked to raise the money for the trip, his first mission.

"That kid was more driven to do things for God than I've seen anybody at his age ever," the brother said. "He was doing things and so committed that honestly, in 16 years, he finished everything he needed to do in this life."

An uncle of Caity Jones told ABC: "She was just an amazing young lady…Her heart was to help people, to help kids."
