Authorities in Florida arrested three people on Wednesday suspected of selling more than $3 million worth of stolen oral hygiene products, The Palm Beach Post reports.
Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies raided a pawn shop whose manager, Igor Roytikh, 44, faces charges that include dealing in stolen property and aggravated retail theft. According to the Post, authorities suspect that Lauren Ann Healy, 23, and Brian Hegmann, 26, supplied the pawn shop with merchandise stolen from stores around Florida.
Hegmann and Healy allegedly concentrated their efforts on dental hygiene products such as electric toothbrushes and whitening strips, authorities said.
WPTV reports that Roytikh allegedly provided Healy and Hegmann with small kickbacks, and then sold the dental products through online auction stores, eventually pocketing more than $2.5 million.
"They're considered professionals," Palm Beach County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Keith Conley said. "They do a large quantity on a daily basis. They work from morning until night."
Conley told The Orlando Sentinel that the trio had been doing operating for over two years. Healy and Hegmann are suspected of taking merchandise from stores including Publix, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Walmart, Winn-Dixie, Lowe's and Bed, Bath & Beyond.
In the raid on Wednesday, authorities confiscated boxes of items including Phillips Sonicare electric toothbrushes worth around $120 each and Crest White Strips worth around $56. According to the Sentinel, some of the items had labels that read: "This item intended for sale at Walgreen's. If found at any other outlets call 800-666-5677."
