A lone gunman killed seven people in a shooting rampage in Ohio on Sunday before police gunned him down.
An 11-year-old child was among those killed in the shooting spree, which is believed to have started as an argument at a home in Copley Township, west of Akron, CNN reported.
Five people were killed in the house around 11am and two more were shot dead on a road nearby, CNN affiliate WJW reported.
A local resident said a woman ran into her house screaming that someone had shot her husband point-blank in the head.
"Somebody knocked on my door and a woman was at my porch, hiding on my porch," Lindy McCrady told WJW.
When McCrady opened the door the woman ran inside screaming "'My son, my son, my 11-year-old son'."
The gunmen wounded two other people during the rampage, which ended when police tracked him down to a home, Copley Police Chief Michael Mier said.
The suspect fired at police who shot back, killing him, Mier said.
"We understand that at some point in time the shooter was chasing somebody," he said, according to Reuters.
He said the shooter's motive and his relationship, if any, to the victims had yet to be established.
