Libyan rebels have spent months poking fun of Muammar Gaddafi’s hairstyle, with graffiti and songs mocking the fugitive leader’s shafshoufa, or bushy do.
“It’s over, frizz-head,” rebels screamed as they stormed Tripoli two weeks ago.
With the leader’s whereabouts still unknown, a newspaper in Libya has taken the joke to the next level – publishing an image of Gaddafi, bald as a cue ball.
ITN reports that a Libyan newspaper published a “Wanted: Dead or Alive” poster of the embattled leader earlier this week, including a digitally altered photo of Gaddafi without hair.
"As Libyans, we would be really shocked if Gaddafi appeared without hair like this because all this time we have been calling him bushy-haired," said one man in the ITN video.
Gaddafi probably isn’t laughing.
Al-Arabiya reported in March that Gaddafi ordered plastic surgeons to Tripoli in 1994 to make the leader “look young again.”
Gaddafi reportedly requested both a facelift and hair implants, which were transplanted from vesicles on his neck.
"Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was not only preoccupied with tightening his grip on power, holding as many titles as possible, and wearing the most peculiar type of clothes, but he was also conscious to keep his looks ‘youthful’,” said Al-Arabiya.
