Syria: Regime uses cluster bombs on civilians

President Bashar al-Assad's forces are killing civilians with cluster bombs, the New York Times reported. Cluster bombs, which are banned by most countries, are incredibly imprecise, making it clear that Assad is deliberately targeting civilians. A regime cluster bomb attack on Marea last week left 4 dead and 23 wounded.

A cluster bomb consists of 42 small bomblets enclosed inside an RBK-250 bomb, the Daily Bhaskar reported. It opens mid-air and lets the bomblets fall indiscriminately.
The Times also reported that Assad's forces have resumed using Scud missiles against rebels on Thursday. “We’ve been clear that we have seen the regime in Syria use Scud missiles against its own people, and that continues,” a senior State Department official said.
