Sherlyn Chopra becomes Playboy’s first Indian model

GlobalPost

Sherlyn Chopra will make history as the first Indian women to ever pose in Playboy magazine for its November issue.

The New York Daily News noted that Chopra isn't winning any fans in her home country for her upcoming Playboy spread.

Media commentator Gayatri Sankar told the New York Daily News, “At a time when innocent women across the nation from Gujarat to Guwahati have been subjected to sexual abuse and humiliation, one wonders if Sherlyn Chopra’s pictures wound a woman’s integrity."

Chopra seems unfazed by the criticism. She told BBC Hindi,  “I have become the first Indian to pose naked for Playboy, and nobody can take away that achievement from me." Chopra added, "It is not an easy task to be nude in front of the camera and look good at the same time."

Chopra also said that while her sister is proud of her, she has yet to share the news with her mother.

Chopra may not have to worry about anyone seeing her spread in India as the magazine is banned there, according to Newser. They may be able to access the photo spread online (for the rare few who don't "read Playboy for the articles.")
