Sam Donaldson was arrested on drunk driving charges earlier this month.

Delaware police confirm the former ABC news anchor was arrested for DUI on December 1, NBC News reported.

The 78-year-old retired from the network in his official capacity but still contributes to some programs.

A police investigation concluded Donaldson had been drinking alcohol. He was given a sobriety test and was subsequently arrested, NBC News reported.

TMZ said authorities took the journalist to a local police station, booked him and he was "released to an adult pending his appearance in court."

For the record, TMZ said he was very cooperative during the process.
