Queens teen shot to death with AK-47

A Queens teenager was killed by a pair of gunmen–one of which was holding an AK-47 assault rifle, the New York Daily News reported. Xavier Granville, 17, was leaving a party in Far Rockaway when he was shot and killed.

“My son didn’t deserve to go out like this,” mother Shakira Granville told the Daily News.

Police found shell casings from both an AK-47 and a 45-caliber pistol at the scene of the murder, the New York Post reported.

The shooting comes as Obama is facing more pressure to ban assault weapons. Speaking on Meet the Press, Obama announced today that he hopes to get new US gun control measures passed during the first year of his second term.

And back in July, Obama said that "AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, and not in the hands of crooks."
