Prisoner shoots police at New Jersey jail
Support for tougher gun control laws is growing, according to a CNN poll.
Three New Jersey police officers were injured this morning after a detained man shot at them in the department's headquarters, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The officers returned fire and killed the suspect in the station.
One officer was hit twice in the abdomen, below his bullet proof vest, ABC News reported. Two others suffered from graze wounds. The officer who was shot in the abdomen had to have surgery and is now in stable condition.

At a press conference, the deputy police chief announced that the shooting occurred at 5:30 am at the Gloucester Township police station. The suspect was being taken into custody for a domestic violence incident when he opened fire, CBS reported.
The suspect was able to somehow grab the gun during a "violent struggle" with the officers, The Newark Star-Ledger reported. His body remains inside the police station while the investigation continues.
