A young woman who was in labor was killed by a suspected drunk driver who slammed into her vehicle in Florida.

Bay News 9 reported Tiffany Woodham, 19, phoned her mother, minutes before the accident on Sunday night to tell her she was on her way to the hospital to give birth to her baby girl, who she had planned to name Novalee Annabelle.

But minutes later Woodham was crushed when the minivan she was a passenger in was crushed by a car driven by an alleged drunk driver.

Doctors tried to save her unborn baby but the child died.

The New York Daily News reported Woodham was in the vehicle with her fiance, Zack Rowles, 22, who was injured.

It is alleged Thomas Jeremy Dick, of Tulsa, was speeding and under the influence of alcohol when he slammed into the minivan.

Dick suffered several bruises and cuts, and could be charged with vehicular homicide, manslaughter, and DUI involving serious bodily injury.

Three passengers in the van with Woodham were taken to hospital.

Her brother said the family was devastated.

"I can't put into words, like I am so upset about it I can't even cry," said Cody Breton. "Every day I would wake up and rub my sister's stomach and tell her how much I loved her."
