Ohio dad, James A. Taylor, jailed for putting kids in boxes

An Ohio father-of-three has been jailed for six months for punishing his children by forcing them into plastic storage boxes which he sealed with duct tape.

James A. Taylor, 30, pleaded guilty Thursday to child endangerment and felony, and also must serve two years' probation, The Steubenville Herald-Star reported.

The court heard that Taylor and his partner, 26-year-old Samantha M. Taylor, crammed the children, aged 5, 6 and 8 into the boxes on June 16 last year. They cut a hole in the top for air before going to the grocery store, Sky News reported.

A friend arrived at the house and found the children and released them. She contacted police.

ABC News reported at the time that it was part of a cycle of abuse by the parents that included having weights dropped on their feet, prosecutor Jeffrey J. Bruzzese said.
