His face pale and gaunt, Macaulay Culkin has developed a serious drug problem, spending up to $6000 a month on heroin and prescription drugs, the National Enquirer claimed.

It reports that the 31-year-old actor, best known for his starring role in the Home Alone movies, almost overdosed recently, and his friends fear next time it could be deadly.

Fox News reported that the actor's lawyers deny the reports he is addicted to drugs.

Numerous media outlets speculate his spiral into drug addiction was sparked by his breakup with actress Mila Kunis, who is now dating her former 'That '70s Show' co-star Ashton Kutcher.

“He’s been hooked for a year and a half, and his drug of choice is either heroin or oxycodone," the Enquirer quotes a source as saying. "Mac is surrounding himself with junkies and lowlifes. It’s a real tragedy."

The Examiner reported that another source claimed to have seen Culkin shooting up.

“Macaulay Culkin is surely dying. He’s addicted to heroin, oxyco done, Percocet and Vicodin… he needs serious help", the source went on to allege.

While Culkin was a superstar as a youngster, his attempts to get into Hollywood as an adult have failed. Fox These days he earns a living DJ-ing at clubs around New York.

Culkin's half sister Jennifer Adamson died of a drug overdose in 2000.
