Lady Gaga has postponed four US shows citing synovitis, or severe inflammation of the joints, due to an injury sustained performing.

The shows are Chicago Feb. 13-14, Detroit Feb. 16 and Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Feb. 17, the Associated Press reported.

Gaga, 26, told her 34 million followers on Twitter:

"I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the last month it has worsened. I've been praying it would heal."

She added:

"It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and Im sorry."

She was hoping to resume her Born This Way Ball Tour next Tuesday in Philadelphia, E! Online wrote.

While Gaga gave no details about how she susteained the injury, it had reportedly left her unable to walk.
