Kuwait: police shave heads to punish harassment of women

GlobalPost

Kuwaiti police shaved the heads of nine men after they were caught teasing young women at a shopping mall in the Gulf state, reported Arab Times, an English-language newspaper in Kuwait.

Gulf News reports:

The men were arrested by Hawalli security servicemen in the Salmiya shopping area and referred to the police where they were given the head shaving punishment, local media reported.

The men were also asked to sign pledges of good conduct in public.

Shaving off head hair is sometimes used as a measure to shame young men for unruly behaviour.
