Katy Perry turns down $20million “American Idol” offer

GlobalPost

British pop singer Katy Perry was offered $20million to be a judge on American Idol, but rejected the lucrative position.

According to TMZ, producers of the hit show pursued Perry relentlessly for weeks, and were so eager to get her to sign that they increased their $18million offer to $20million for a one year contract.

But the pop sensation, who recently split from John Mayer, decided against it.

TMZ said Perry believes it might not be the right career move for her.

As a result, producers continue their search to replace Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson as judges, US Weekly reported.

Other names rumoured to be possible replacements include Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams, Keith Urban and Nick Jonas.

In late July, Mariah Carey accepted an $18 million offer to be a judge, making her the highest-paid judge on any music competition show.
