A security guard at Tom Cruise's home tasered a suspected prowler as he climbed a fence into the actor's $30million property on Sunday night.

The Los Angeles Times reported the alleged offender, Jason Sullivan, 41, turned out to be an intoxicated neighbor.

Police were called to the Beverly Hills property at 9.35pm on Sunday, where they found the male suspect trying to leave the property.

"The suspect had been previously detained by a security officer, who was on duty at the residence and had observed the suspect climbing a fence to gain access to the property," the Police Department said in a statement.

The spokesman said Sullivan "was intoxicated at the time of the incident and may have confused himself and entered the wrong property."

Sullivan suffered injuries from the shock of the stun gun and was taken to hospital.

CBS Local said Cruise nor any of his family were home at the time. Cruise bought the 10,000 square-foot, 7-bedroom, 9-bath home earlier this year.
