The son of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono resigned from the Indonesian parliament on February 14th, after he was widely criticized for his absence at a house plenary session earlier in the week.
Edhie Baskoro "Ibas" Yudhoyono, the secretary-general of the ruling Indonesian Democratic Party, left the post after he was caught on camera signing an attendance form then skipping the house session, writes AAP.

“I hereby declare my resignation as a lawmaker to focus all of my time and energy on the Democratic Party, ” said Ibas in a press conference at the Democratic Party offices at the House, writes the Jakarta Post.
“There’s no no way that I can carry out my duty as a lawmaker while at the same time serving as the secretary-general of the Democratic Party," he added.
It's suspected that the younger Yudhoyono will step in to help rescue the Democratic Party, which has recently suffered from a graft scandal involving chairman chairman Anas Urbaningrum, reports Reuters.
