Hillary Clinton back at work after month of illness

Hillary Clinton has resumed her duties as US Secretary of State, after a month recovering from ill health.

According to the State Department schedule, Clinton, 65, held a closed meeting with her assistant secretaries at 9:15 this morning. No other appointments were listed.

A Reuters video showed her car arriving at the State Department, though Clinton herself couldn't be seen.

She has not appeared in public since Dec. 7, when, having contracted a stomach virus, she fainted from dehydration and hit her head.

She was later discovered to have a blood clot between her brain and her skull, leading doctors to hospitalize her for three days.

She was released on Jan. 2 and has spent the past few days recuperating at her home in New York, according to the Associated Press.

While medics said she would make a full recovery, the AP noted that there has been "speculation that she was sicker than her spokesmen let on, and that the episode may damage her political future."

Clinton plans to leave the State Department at the end of this month, when she will be replaced by Senator John Kerry.
