Eddie Routh has been arrested and accused of killing "American Sniper" author and ex-Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and his neighbor Chad Littlefield at a Texas shooting range on Saturday.

Routh, 25, was arraigned on two counts of capital murder and sent back to Erath County Jail on Sunday, where he is being held on a $3 million bond, the Associated Press reported.

An ex-Marine and Iraqi War veteran, Routh is believed to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Though his motive is unclear, Kyle was reportedly mentoring Routh and helping him through his PTSD, which included visits to the shooting range at Rough Creek Lodge resort, the Dallas News reported

According to investigators, Routh shot Kyle and Littlefield at point-blank range around 3:30 Saturday afternoon, and evaded the police in his Ford pickup truck before being arrested at his home in Lancaster, Texas, Reuters reported.

Chris Kyle was the US military's deadliest sniper, breaking the record for most kills: over 150 have been confirmed by the Pentagon, and he was awarded two Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars with Valor, according to the Dallas News.
