Couple held over discovery of headless torsos in Paris forest

London, UK – Police in France are questioning a couple over the discovery of two headless torsos in a forest in eastern Paris popular with picnickers.
According to Reuters, a jogger came upon a rotting leg with its foot cut off in the forest of Vincennes earlier this month, and alerted police. On Friday a guide dog unearthed the decapitated, legless corpse of a woman nearby.
According to the BBC, a couple – who are described as being of “Asian origin” – turned themselves into French police on Saturday and led police to a second, male corpse in the forest on Sunday. The pair, who are in police custody, have admitted to killing another couple following a dispute over the dead couple’s child, who died whilst in their care.
A source told the Agence France Presse that the couple said the child had died accidentally, and that they had attempted to conceal the death by placing the body in a bin bag. The pair reportedly fled to China shortly after killing the couple, but returned to France “overcome with remorse” and handed themselves into police on the advice of their lawyer.
