Two American men, from Oregon and Colorado, died during a climb of Mount Aconcagua in Argentina.

David Reinhart, 42, of the Portland suburb of Lake Oswego, and 41-year-old Colorado native Eric Nourse, were killed last weekend while climbing the 22,841-foot peak in Argentina's Andes, reported the Associated Press. Eric's twin brother, Greg Nourse, survived.

According to Colorado's KWGN, Nourse died while he and his twin brother were trying to get help for Reinhart, who had fallen behind because of altitude sickness. Greg Nourse was the only survivor.

"They loved each other and they loved their families. That's what these guys were all about," said Craig Reinhart, David Reinhart's brother, according to KTVB. He described his younger brother as having a "profound love for adventure."

The three friends were experienced climbers but, according to their families, they had called home using a satellite phone late last week to say they were in trouble due to Reinhart's altitude sickness. Greg Nourse had left the group to get help and climbed to a base camp. Eric Nourse died on the mountain after resuscitation attempts by rescuers, and Reinhart's body was found by searchers in a private plane after he had gone missing.
