Suicide bombers strike in central Damascus, causing unknown casualties

Two suicide bombers have reportedly struck in central Damascus, the Syrian capital, causing an unknown number of casualties.
Syria's official TV channel, Al-Ikhbariya, said the bombers detonated in Marjeh square — the scene of a car bomb attack in April that killed at least 13 people.
Footage showed badly damaged vehicles and bloodied pavements, with the station blaming "terrorists."
Suicide attacks and car bombings have become common in Damascus.
The latest bombing came as regime forces prepared an assault on Aleppo, now a stronghold of rebels, and after government troops captured a strategic town in Homs province.
The Assad regime relies on the region as a link between Damascus and government strongholds on the Mediterranean coast.
A suicide bomber detonated a car laden with explosives in the city of Homs on Saturday, killing seven people.
