Pope Francis criticized church at conclave says Cuban cardinal

According to Havana's Roman Catholic cardinal, Pope Francis said the Vatican needs to emerge from "theological narcissism," just hours before he was named the new pontiff.

Cuban Cardinal Jaime Ortega told the Cuban Catholic magazine "Palabra Nueva" that then-Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio made the comments to the College of Cardinals while the conclave met to choose the new pope, Fox News reported.

Bergoglio went on to say the church needed to refocus its energy on sin, suffering, injustice and ignorance.

Bergoglio, who chose the papal name Francis, was appointed on March 13.

Meanwhile, Rome has printed one million bus and subway tickets bearing the new Argentinian pope's silhouette, Agence France Presse reported.

The limited edition tickets go on sale on Wednesday.
