Mexico violence: 4 killed in Guadalajara bar shootings

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Four people were killed, including a US citizen, in two separate bar shootings in Mexico’s second largest city on Sunday night.

Foreign and local media reports on Monday put the number of wounded in the attacks at between 17 and 29.

Authorities said the first incident happened shortly before 10 p.m local time.

Gunmen burst into the Gol bar and shot dead two people, including Jeff Lydell Comer, a 45-year-old American, who had been watching a Mexican football derby, Agence France-Presse reported.

Ruta 66 bar was attacked minutes later. Gunmen fire shots and threw a grenade into the bar, killing two people.

Officials told El Universal that the attacks were directed at the establishments and not against specific customers.
