Car bomb kills one, injures at least 30 near Suez Canal

At least one person was killed and at least 30 were injured after a car bomb exploded at a camp for Egyptian security forces in Ismailiya, along the Suez Canal.
According to Al Jazeera, a policeman was killed and six civilians were injured in the blast, which appears to have been placed at the gates to the camp and than set off remotely. The explosion was swiftly followed by gunshots.

The Egyptian military is currently attempting to push Islamic militants out of villages near the Israel and Gaza Strip border, writes the Associated Press, which has been met with considerable pushback.
Attacks on Egyptian police and army members have risen since President Mohamed Mursi was deposed from office in July.
In November, bomb attacks in Cairo and near north Sinai killed eleven soldiers and wounded at least two police officers, according to the Washington Post.
