Last week's protests in Sao Paulo, at first against transit fare hikes, ended in violence.

And that's when the real anger started: anger at public spending on World Cup and other athletic preparations, anger at corruption, anger at inequality.

Thousands filled streets across the country again on Monday, concentrated in several major Brazilian cities, both to protest fare hikes for public transportation and to renew the prior week's braoder call for money to be spent on badly needed public services rather than projects benefiting elites.
