Billionaire Richard Branson has turned his private Caribbean island into a rare animal sanctuary

Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, is super rich — so rich that he owns a 72-acre private island, called Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands.

Among Branson's guests there are some 300 different species of rare and endangered animals, including Galapagos tortoises and six species of lemur that are native to Madagascar and nearly extinct. He's carved out a 6-acre sanctuary for his animal friends and employs three wildlife management experts to care for them. He hopes that some of the species can reproduce, increase their numbers, and be reintroduced to their native habitats.
