9/11 plane part reportedly found in between New York City buildings

A piece of one of the planes hijacked on 9/11 has reportedly been found wedged between two New York City buildings.
Surveyors found the piece while they were inspecting a lower Manhattan building, and the part has a clearly identified Boeing ID number, the Associated Press reported Friday.
The inspectors reportedly called 911 immediately, and though the size of the part was not disclosed, police said it could be difficult to remove without demolition work that would damage the surrounding buildings, NBC News New York reported.
"The NYPD is securing the location as it would a crime scene," Police spokesman Paul Browne said in a statement, according to CNN.
The medical examiners's office is also doing an evaluation to determine if they should shift through the surrounding soil for human remains, according to the AP.
The discovery of the plane part comes in the midst of a 10-week sifting operation at Ground Zero to try and find additional remains.
