Two weeks after the catastrophic building collapse in Bangladesh leveled several garment factories, bodies are still being pulled from the rubble.

The death toll was well above 950 and fast approaching 1,000 on Thursday.

The collapse of the eight-story Rana Plaza building on April 24 has become the worst tragedy in the history of the garment manufacturing industry anywhere in the world.

Bangladesh's government said it closed 16 garment factories in the capital Dhaka and the southeastern city of Chittagong following the tragedy in April.

The country's 4 million garment industry workers face unsafe work conditions and work in buildings that violate codes.
