Death by Hanging for Men Convicted in Indian Gang Rape-Murder

The Takeaway

It will be a death penalty for the four convicted perpetrators of one of the most horrible crimes in Indian history–the public rape and murder of a young girl on a moving bus in Delhi last year.
The world’s attention was focused on the story of the woman, who died of her injuries two weeks after being brutalized. In India, tens of thousands of people flooded the streets to demand tougher policing and prosecution of sex crimes.
The men will face death by hanging.
Joining us to discuss the sentence is Veena Venugopal, a journalist based in Delhi and author of “Would you Like Some Bread With That Book.”
